PBMI
Kaplan EduNeering and the Pharmacy Benefit Management Institute, LP (PBMI) have formed an alliance to provide learning solutions for professionals involved in the delivery of drug benefit programs.
Under the alliance, Kaplan and PBMI will develop a unique curriculum for human resource executives, benefit professionals, pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) and managed care professionals.
PBMI Course: Introduction to Drug Benefit Management
The first course for PBMI professionals, Introduction to Pharmacy Benefit Management, is available for individual purchase from the PBMI site. This is a basic course for anyone new to the business-to-business aspects of drug benefit design and management. After completing the course, you will be able to:
- Explain how a PBM operates to manage drug benefit programs.
- Identify how a PBM helps to manage drug benefit expenditures.
- Assess how PBMs differ from one another.
- Describe the major elements of a well-designed, clinically oriented drug benefit plan design.
Learn more about regulations facing PBMs.
Our alliance with PBMI will result in other online courses for organizations involved in managing the drug benefit for group health and Medicare Part D beneficiaries, as well as for specialized populations such as Medicaid and workers compensation.
Key issues facing the industry, including understanding how PBMs work, how benefit professionals can contract effectively with a PBM, and how to manage drug cost expenditures will be addressed.
