History

1980

EduNeering is founded and develops an innovative instructional system that integrates a handheld computer with a game-board simulation. The company is awarded three patents.

1984

EduNeering's first computer-based training programs are introduced to the energy industry. These programs were recognized as "state-of-the-art" and established the firm as an early pioneer in compliance education and instructional technology.

1987

EduNeering enters into a joint venture with Williams Energy, creating Williams Knowledge Systems, to develop and market computer-based training programs for the energy industry. The partnership produces approximately 130 courses to meet OSHA and DOT regulations. Williams Knowledge Systems becomes the #1 organization in providing computer-based training solutions for the energy industry.

1996

EduNeering enters the life sciences market through a merger with Hastings Healthcare Group. A curriculum is developed to meet the FDA's regulations for Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). This represented the first computer-based training system designed exclusively for the pharmaceutical and medical device industries.

1999

EduNeering signs a unique Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to design and administer ORA U, FDA's virtual university. ORA U is used to train and certify FDA, state, local and tribal inspectors and investigators. By 2006, more than 30,000 inspectors have been trained through ORA-U. This same solution is available exclusively to all of EduNeering's FDA-regulated clients.

2000

Arena Capital and Galen Partners purchase EduNeering. A merger with KnowledgeWire, LLC is concluded, adding Application Service Provider (ASP) capabilities and high-quality course libraries to EduNeering's product and service line. EduNeering launches a major initiative to develop a specialized ASP-based system for the life sciences market, creating ComplianceWire^®. EduNeering signs its first corporate enterprise agreement with a top-five life science company.

2004

The Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) selects EduNeering as its exclusive Internet-based training and education partner for ACRP's 20,000 members around the world. EduNeering launches Critical Information Control Systems^® (CICS), an online SOP and critical document management system. Deloitte ranks EduNeering as one of its Fast 500 Technology Companies, recognizing EduNeering's growth in the nation's technology sector (#272 of 500).

2005

Deloitte selects EduNeering as one of its Fast 500 Technology Companies for the second consecutive year. EduNeering moves up 70 slots to #202 in the nation on Deloitte's list. EduNeering forms a partnership with Silliker Labs for online education for the food industry. The company also signs several enterprise agreements with organizations in the life science and health care industries.

2006

EduNeering celebrates its 26th anniversary, with more than 200 clients and 850,000 subscribers using the company's knowledge solutions. CICS usage increases by more than 300% over the prior year. New technologies, including PROVE^SM and Visual Job Aids^SM are added. FDA renews and expands its CRADA with EduNeering for five years, adding new technologies to the agreement.

2007

EduNeering is acquired by Kaplan, Inc., a leading international provider of educational and career services and a subsidiary of The Washington Post Company (NYSE: WPO), and becomes Kaplan EduNeering. Kaplan EduNeering develops new programs extending training to external partners and contractors of its life science, health plan and energy clients.

2008

Kaplan EduNeering is named the exclusive online compliance partner to AdvaMed, the world’s largest medical technology trade organization. Kaplan EduNeering’s ComplianceWire^® platform is translated into 27 languages to serve its global client base. Kaplan EduNeering purchases RedHawk Communications, a leading ethics compliance and training company.

2009

Kaplan EduNeering and the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), extend their Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) for five additional years. 

2010

Lisa Clune, President of Kaplan EduNeering, is named one of New Jersey’s 2010 Best 50 Women in Business by NJBIZ. Kaplan EduNeering won the coveted Brandon Hall Gold Award (the highest honor) for technology excellence in the Compliance Training category. Kaplan EduNeering expands internationally with the launch of its Asia Pacific operations and the appointment of an EMEA Managing Director.

2010

Kaplan EduNeering announces several strategic partnerships:

• Kaplan EduNeering and the Personal Care Products Council, the leading national trade association representing the global cosmetic and personal care products industry, enter into a new exclusive alliance.
• Kaplan EduNeering and the Drug Information Association, a global professional member association, develop a new strategic alliance to create online educational offerings.
• Kaplan EduNeering and ProtonMedia, the developer of the ProtoSphere virtual collaboration environment for the high-performance workplace, announce a new multi-year partnership.

2011

Kaplan EduNeering announces partnership with the Duke Clinical Research Institute, the largest academic clinical research organization in the world. Kaplan EduNeering and AdvaMed, the world’s largest medical technology trade association, announce the extension and expansion of their partnership through 2014.
